I am an avid cyclist who enjoys the challenge of covering long distances. Starting July 1st, 2021, and with the support of Cyclesmith, Jakroo and McInnes Cooper, I did a solo, pandemic-friendly, dementia fundraising and awareness ride around the perimeter of Nova Scotia. I rode ~2,400 kilometers in 9 days (not 7, as originally planned). My specific goals were to:
• Raise funds to help the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia (ASNS) provide community supports to persons with dementia and their caregivers and families
• Raise funds to support the Brain Tissue Bank via the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation (DMRF)
• Raise awareness about the importance of brain donation for dementia research
Funds raised before, during and after the ride will be split 50/50 between the ASNS and DMRF.
You can still donate to the Cycle of Life – Ride for dementia here.
